Why your transfer gets stuck, and what to do about it
A transfer that says "pending" for too long is stressful, especially when someone is waiting on it. The good news: stuck almost never means gone. It usually means a check is running or a detail needs fixing.
The usual reasons
First transfers to a new recipient trigger extra verification. Compliance checks, which every legitimate service runs, can pause a transfer for review. A small mismatch in the recipient's name or account will hold things up. And banking hours or holidays simply delay the final step.
None of these mean the money's lost. They mean it's parked.
What to actually do
Find your transfer reference and the status. If you're still inside the quoted window, give it time. If you're past it, contact support with the reference and ask two things: why is it held, and what do you need from me. Often it's a document or a corrected detail, and it clears within hours.
Keep the receipt and any messages. If a transfer ever does fail outright, that paper trail is how you get it reversed.
Avoiding the stick next time
Double-check recipient details before sending, send well before any deadline, and expect the first transfer to a new person to take a little longer. Our pre-send checklist covers the rest, and this piece sets honest expectations on timing.
